US Military Targeted a 'Major Facility' in the Venezuelan nation, President Trump Claimed Without Offering Details.

Ex-President Trump has asserted that US military assets hit a "large facility" in the South American country last week. But, the ex-leader did not specify the exact nature or site of the target, and there has been no further comment from his camp.

Vague Comments Made In a Talk Show

"US forces just eliminated – I don't know if you heard – they have a big plant, where the vessels come from. The other night, we took it out. So we struck them very hard," Trump reportedly told GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Implications of a Confirmed Strike

If a US military action is verified, it would mark the first attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon began a expansion of US strike forces in the Caribbean region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration alleges operate under the authority of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The original mission of the military buildup has evolved into a blockade aimed at hindering the nation's oil exports.

Social Media Footage and Official Statements

Trump has for weeks indicated that American military units are poised to escalate the military campaign by striking targets within Venezuela, a move that would in theory require congressional authorization.

Online video posted online on 24 December appeared to show an detonation said to be from an industrial area in Zulia state. But, the video or the facility has not been independently verified.

An official from Trump's team allegedly informed a news network that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Response and Current Military Posture

The Maduro government has remained silent on the alleged strike Trump described. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela concerning it.

The presence of US military in the region – a stance certain officials have referred to as a naval quarantine – represents the most expansive maritime enforcement action of the Trump era.

Officials have stopped short from calling the action as a full blockade, but have stated that approximately 15,000 service members are positioned across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to implement current economic sanctions.
